HOW REAL IS REAL

An exceptional exhibition by artists Saad Nazih and Hicham Matini to discover from March 25 at La Galerie 38! Opening on Thursday March 24 at 7:00 p.m.

Hicham Matini from childhood developed a very pronounced taste for art and plastic creations in various forms. He therefore naturally chose to go to the School of Fine Arts in Tetouan, from which he graduated in 2014 to perfect his technical skills.

This artist, who has participated in several exhibitions from Morocco to the United States via Spain and Mexico, sees art as a means of questioning the major current problems of the world. He points to the paradoxes of our time against the backdrop of the following themes: power, money, religion, politics, social networks and above all the role and influence of mass media.

Hicham Matini's works act on the viewer like a magnifying mirror, constantly reflecting the contradictions he refuses to see, leaving him no choice but to reflect on the schizophrenia of the world in which he lives. A world in search of meaning and landmarks that nevertheless accepts the frantic pace of the race for buzz, notoriety, superficiality.

A world where the quality of moments shared physically is replaced by the immediacy of memories created virtually. Between nostalgia and contemporaneity, Hicham Matini undoubtedly encourages reflection. Saad Nazih offers a committed and corrosive vision of the world around us. A world where the illusion of equality and obstacles to individual freedoms coexist. A world where the excesses of money and power collide with ethics and moral values.

Saad Nazih's painting is halfway between the lightness of dreamlike drawing and the solemnity of a chaotic message.

The viewer is both disturbed and gripped by the urgency and universality of the themes addressed. As if the global issues were finally only a perpetual cycle and that the alarming tensions of today were in a sense yesterday, and will unfortunately be so in their own way tomorrow. With his work, Saad Nazih offers an indisputable invitation to meditation.
