Ubahlabulele (Atone for them)

"Ubahlabulele, meaning Atone for them, is a silent video set in two parts:

landscapes: a studio installation named Ixhanti and a serene wetland. In the studio, amidst warm tones, I perform a cleansing ritual with sand, reconnecting to earth and tradition. Simultaneously, in the wetland's monochrome, I move through reeds, symbolising emergence and renewal.

The silence honours sacredness and mourns loss, highlighting the artist’s role as creator and healer amidst worldly suffering. Through this work, I evoke reflection and unity in times of turmoil, offering solace and hope through art.

Ubahlabulele serves as a meditation on collective grief and the transformative power of artistic expression. It invites viewers to contemplate their own role in healing and connection, inspiring empathy and resilience in the face of adversity."
