PUT A CHANGEMAKER IN THE SPOTLIGHT

Vote for your favourite photo in our competition. Two lucky winners will receive €2500.

As we observe the world we live in, we are confronted with the choice that we all have: leave it as it is? Or begin to build a better, more inclusive one that values change, compassion, courage and curiosity?

At 5, we want to be inspired and inspire others to imagine and create a new reality by sharing stories, spotlighting new perspectives and encouraging progressive action.

In doing so we change the scene.

As a non-profit media all 5 proceeds will go to fund actions that positively change the world.

5 asked competition entrants to take a photograph of an everyday changemaker, and tell us why they deserve to be celebrated, for a chance at winning one of two €2500 prizes.

Our jury of top photographers will now pick out five entries to become finalists for the 5 Jury Prize.

The five entries that garner the most likes on Instagram will be selected as finalists for the 5 Community Prize.

You can vote for entries to be selected as finalists all this week, up until Sunday November 15th at 15:00 CET (09:00 EST). On Monday November 16th we’ll announce the finalists, and you’ll be able to vote for an overall winner for the 5 Community Prize.

So what are you waiting for, get voting!

Voting for the overall winner of the 5 Community Prize will be open from November 16th until November 29th, and the winners for both the 5 Community Prize and the 5 Jury Prize will be revealed on December 8th. Full terms and conditions for the contest can be found here.

Bernard Brand notes the following in his entry of 'Portrait of @blackwomxnrants a.k.a. Thandiwe Ntshinga':

"I’ve been wracking my brain on what to write about this woman. We only recently met in the midst of the global COVID-19 pandemic to discuss BLM, gender based violence, feminism amongst other things. It was for a project I was (and still am) working on called 'Pandemic Stories'.

@blackwomxnrants a.k.a. Thandiwe Ntshinga is a force to be reckoned with. A powerful voice. A hearty and loud laugh. I believe she’s a change maker. Not the only one, but one among many. She didn’t necessarily ask to be a voice for anyone, but she has certainly raised her voice against gender based violence in South Africa as well as the #blacklivesmatter movement."
